Dr. Dorota Spelliscy

A little bit about me...

I am a psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. I offer psychotherapy and assessment to adults and youth (12 and up). In addition to my private practice, I am a psycho-educational consultant to the Youth Services Bureau, and a clinical professor and supervisor of students in the Counselling and Spirituality Program at Saint Paul University. I enjoy all aspects of my work and am privileged to work in varied and diverse settings.

My areas of interest...

I work therapeutically with adults and adolescents using a psychodynamic framework, with a focus on intrapsychic conflict. My main areas of clinical focus are depression, anxiety, identity issues, women's issues, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and loss and grief. I offer psychological and psycho-educational assessment.

Where I studied and trained...

I received my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Fordham University in New York in 2007, my M.A. and Ed.M. in Psychological Counseling from Columbia University in New York in 2002, and my B.Sc. in Biopsychology from the University of British Columbia in 1999. I was trained in various facilities and had the opportunity to work with a wide range of populations. I trained at a city hospital in the Bronx with inpatients and outpatients, a Veterans Affairs hospital, where I worked with war veterans and their families, a university counselling center, and the Karen Horney Clinic in Manhattan, where I offered psychotherapeutic services to individuals of var'ious cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
